ASTA Awards Program2017 ASTA Award ProgramThe American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) strives to promote excellence within the travel industry. ASTA will be presenting the following awards at the 2017 ASTA Global Convention to recognize those professionals who make lasting contributions to the industry.


International Chapter of the Year

ASTA International Chapters lay the ASTA footprint all over the world. By promoting membership, engaging international industry partners and lending a voice to international destinations, the International Chapters support the overall mission of ASTA.

Criteria: This award will be given to the chapter that has gone above and beyond in its efforts and achievements. Been best advocate, shows strong membership engagement and growth and participates in meetings and events.

Individual Supplier Awards

To recognize suppliers who show a willingness to partner with agencies and reward their travel agent sales force accordingly.

Criteria: The ASTA membership chooses the ‘best of the best’ among supplier partners who support their industry association. By engaging the ASTA membership, our supplier partners support ASTA’s critical mission of industry advocacy and keeping the channel healthy.

Extra Mile Award

Given to a travel agent who has gone the extra mile in the last 12 months to provide exceptional service for a client in a new and creative way that goes above and beyond the normal course of business. Nominations closed July 1st. The Extra Mile Award is sponsored by Enterprise.


 

Consortia Partner of the Year

To the Consortia, Franchise or Coop organization that has displayed outstanding support for ASTA and its mission to promote and defend the travel agency community. Criteria: ASTA member in good standing; current network membership program with ASTA; ASTAPAC contribution; dedication of other resources to support ASTA. Chosen by ASTA staff.

Criteria: Nominations must be between 250 and 300 words to be considered, include the name of the agent, the name of the agency and contact information for both the submitter and the nominee. Creativity is a plus. Nominees must be an active ASTA member. For more information about eligibility and how to enter, click here.

Chapter of the Year

Because our chapters are the primary way we engage potential and current members locally and build awareness and distribution the benefits of belonging to ASTA.

Criteria: This award will be given to the chapter that displays the most membership engagement and growth, financial growth/health and ASTAPAC contributions considered.

Host Partner of the Year

To a host agency that has displayed outstanding support for ASTA and its mission to promote and defend the travel agency community.

Criteria: ASTA member in good standing; current network membership program with ASTA; ASTAPAC contribution; dedication of other resources to support ASTA. Chosen by ASTA staff.

Supplier Partner Member of the Year

To recognize the Supplier who has impressed the agency community most by offering the best service and/or helped agencies with attractive agency compensation and/or creative pricing.

Criteria: Must be an active ASTA Proud Partner to be eligible to win.

Allied Member Representative of the Year

To recognize the Supplier Representative who has done the most remarkable, memorable, and helpful job supporting the agency community.

Criteria: Must be an active ASTA Proud Partner to be eligible to win.

Barbara O'Hara Advocacy Award

Awarded to two individual ASTA members who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in terms of their support for ASTA’s advocacy initiatives, grassroots campaigns and ASTAPAC fundraising.

Criteria: Selected by ASTA staff in consultation award sponsor Sabre and the ASTA Government & Political Affairs Committee.

Chapter Advocacy Award

Awarded to the ASTA chapter that has gone above and beyond the call of duty in terms of its support for ASTA’s advocacy initiatives, grassroots campaigns and ASTAPAC fundraising.

Criteria: Selected by ASTA staff for based on measurable factors including ASTAPAC dollars raised per member, PAC participation rate, response rate for state/federal grassroots action alerts, Legislative Day participation, and other factors.

Paul Ruden Industry Ambassador Award

Awarded to the individual ASTA member who best represents our industry as an ambassador to multiple audiences – the government, the broader travel industry and the traveling public. Named after longtime former ASTA staff member and industry titan Paul Ruden, the award is inspired by Paul’s decades-long record of service in support of the travel agency industry.

Criteria: Selected by ASTA staff in consultation with Paul Ruden and past Ruden Award winners.
